We're starting 2026 off strong with a new queer book club hosted by Twin Cities queer cartoonist (and ABOTO server) Archie Bongiovanni!
We're meeting at A Bar of Their Own, Wednesday, January 14th at 7pm. We'll be discussing Herculine by Grace Bryon. RSVP isn’t required, but appreciated—RSVP here!
Come even if you haven't had a chance to read the book! We'll also talk about what we'd like this club to look like (for instance, I would love a focus on queer horror, but down for just general queer literature too) and if anyone has ideas for our next read.
About the club: Everyone is welcome! I'll have some printed discussion questions to start us off. We will be meeting monthly, but only discussing books bi-monthly. The meetings we aren't discussing books, we will be doing Pitch-A-Book, where we discuss what we've been reading and enjoying recently. This will be more of a casual hang to get to know each other. Not mandatory for folks to attend both, you can do some/all/neither.
While ordering isn't necessary, this does take place at A Bar of Their Own, so please support the establishment if you can by getting a drink or snack. They have tasty mocktails, beers, and cocktails as well as snacks or a full-on dinner. Since this is a sports bar first, some months we may have to shift the date around, but we'll try to keep it on Wednesdays!
